This first picture is just for my reference. I was about to pull the wires out, cut them to the right size, put ferules on them and plug them back in. This DB9 is to allow a laptop computer to access the EFIS via a serial connection. The harness for it was 6 feet long so I cut it and permanently mounted the DB9 and the one for the EMS to the bottom left of the instrument panel. I made a bracket for them out of .032 angle, prep'ed it, primed it and painted it with black enamel.

I then hooked up power and ground to the EFIS. I verified the remote compass module was hooked up. I then turned on the master switch and voila! It lives! The heading is right on. The altitude seemed about right after I set it to the correct altimeter setting. Pretty cool stuff.

I found out today that the SL-30 I have on order is back ordered for a week. Bummer.
