I routed the GPS antenna RG-400 cable through the fuselage floor and around the bulkhead behind the passenger seat. I installed Adel clamps to keep it away from the rudder cable. I installed the two COM antennas, the transponder antenna and temperature sensor for the EMS. The COM antennas are about 2 1/2 feet apart - much closer than the 4 recommended by Garmin in the GNS-430 manual. I agonized over this for several days before doing it. I could have installed one antenna under the rear baggage compartment but that would have placed the tip very close to the ground. My understanding is that by having them close together one transmitter might overpower the other receiver. The transponder antenna is a few feet behind the COM antennas. The restriction on the transponder antenna is that if RG-400 is used, it must be less than 8 feet long. No problem here. |
