Hurricane Ike was here yesterday. It was estimated to be a category 2 as it went over this area. The center of the eye was about 15 miles to the east of here. There war a lot of tree damage and power outages but damage to property in this area seems to have been minimal.

At the airport, a lot of hanger doors came off the tracks and fell either out or in. In my case they fell in but rested against some angle iron I had the maintenance folks weld on the inside of the track at the start of the hurricane season. I copied this idea from someone else at the airport and it worked very well. I am surprised that since it took so little effort and expense (free for me) why it isn't done on all of the hangers. Several planes were damaged due to doors. I think what happens is in high winds the roof bows upward causing the track to raise and the doors to fall out. In my case the track was left permanently bowed upward. The repair was to cut the track from the hanger and re-weld it lower.
