I am still not happy with the rear seat the fiberglass rubs on one side of the bulkhead, it isn't flush and the front seat is warped. Fixing all of this was my goal for tonight. I drilled out the rear seat hinge rivets for the second time. I cut new hinges and drilled them about 1/8" offset from where I had them before. I did one hinge at a time this time. I primed the one on the right, riveted it in place, pinned it and drilled two holes in the other one. Alignment is a lot better now. I made a tiny notch in the bulkhead to allow the fiberglass not to touch. The rear seat now sits about 1/16" from the bulkhead. Not flush but close enough. I then sanded the flange area of the fiberglass top part, cleaned it and then brushed on epoxy/hardener. The manual recommends this to minimize chaffing. I made the two stiffener pieces that go on the sides of the rear seat back. I also prep'ed and primed the rear seat belt attach straps. Then I put the bottom part of the front seat back between my feet and twisted the $%^&* out of it to remove the warp. It worked. It now rests flush against the bar. The last picture above is of the engine mount hanging with temporary bolts to the fuselage. I couldn't resist. |
